- Available only with a five-speed manual transmission
The Swift is one of Maruti’s popular offerings in the Indian market, and the addition of a CNG version has only made this deal sweeter. We tested the latest iteration of the hatchback in this cost-conscious avatar, and let us now detail how it fared on the fuel efficiency front.
Powertrain Specifications

The Swift CNG is powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine which produces 80bhp and 112Nm. In CNG mode, this output is reduced to 69bhp and 102Nm. The automaker claims a mileage of 32.85km/kg in this sole five-speed manual avatar.
Swift CNG City Mileage

In the city, we drove the Swift CNG for a distance of 79.8km, and the hatchback consumed 3.75kg of CNG. This brings the mileage to 21.28km/kg. It is to be noted that the test car, the ZXi variant, tipped the scales at 980kg.
Swift CNG Highway Mileage

Moving on to the highway, the Swift CNG covered 119.4km, all while consuming 3.41kg of the eco-friendly fuel, thus resulting in a mileage of 35.01km/kg. For the uninitiated, the Swift petrol is claimed to return a fuel efficiency of 24.80kmpl and 25.75kmpl in the manual and automatic versions, respectively.
