- Gets refreshed styling and new features
The Kia Carens has got its updated version called the Carens Clavis. It’s a more premium version that has been unveiled, and will be launched soon. Both models will be on sale, with the Carens Clavis positioned as a rebranded and more premium offering. Here are pictures of the Clavis that detail the changes, bringing out the differentiation.

The Kia Carens Clavis has been redesigned, accounting for the buyers’ demand of a tough-looking sporty SUV, but still continuing to provide the comfort and convenience of an MPV.

As a result, the Clavis has a sharper design than the Carens and features the signature digital tiger face, but with new sportier LED headlamps and DRLs.

Even the bumper section is updated with a focus on rugged aesthetics. The fascia gets a more upright profile similar to SUVs. That makes it look more imposing than the standard Carens.

The silhouette of the Clavis remains identical to the Carens. However, the side profile has been updated with a new side cladding, and the alloy wheels get a new pattern.

At the back, the Kia Carens Clavis gets connected 'Star Map' LED tail lamps and a re-sculpted bumper to match the rugged yet sharp warrior-style persona.

While the existing Carens is available in eight colour options, the Carens Clavis will add one more new signature colour - Ivory Silver.

Inside, things remain identical in terms of design and layout, but the upholstery pattern, colour, and feel has changed. The Clavis is also available in both six and seven-seater configurations.

Unlike the standard Carens, the Carens Clavis boasts Level 2 ADAS. This ADAS package includes 20 autonomous features, apart from the standard safety features.

There's lane following assist, blind spot collision warning and avoidance assist, forward collision avoidance assist, high beam assist, and lane keeping assist to name a few.

Other safety features include six-airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist and descent control, all-disc brakes, vehicle stability management, rear parking sensors, and TPMS.

Another feature update comes in the form of a dual pane panoramic sunroof, which provides an unobstructed view of the sky and increases the sense of space inside the cabin.

What’s more, the car gets a smart key-enabled all windows up/down feature that we had seen in the new Syros. However, the Clavis doesn't get a third screen for aircon controls like the Syros.

Powertrain
The Kia Carens Clavis will continue with the existing powertrain options available with the Kia Carens. The 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 113bhp and 144Nm torque, and is offered with a six-speed manual transmission. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine churns out 158bhp and 253Nm. It comes mated to either a six-speed manual, six-speed iMT, or a seven-speed DCT. On the other hand, the diesel variants utilise a 1.5-litre unit that produces 113bhp and 250Nm. Transmission options include a six-speed manual and a six-speed AT.
